Art inspired by change, resilience, and the stories things carry

The Story So Far

I’m Judy Ladewig, a mixed-media artist based in the Midwest. My work is rooted in an appreciation for materials with history, paper, fabric, pigment, and found fragments that carry traces of time and use. Through layering, stitching, and experimentation, I explore how the ordinary becomes meaningful and how creating helps us find connection and resilience.

Art has always been a way for me to make sense of life, especially during uncertain, in-between times. I’m drawn to texture, wear, and layers that suggest what has been lived through and what endures. Each piece begins as an experiment and becomes a record of process and transformation, shaped by intuition as much as intention.

Alongside my studio work, I share reflections and glimpses of work in progress on The Serendipitous Journey, my Substack community for artists, writers, and kindred spirits. It’s where art and life meet. A place for reflection, connection, and creative living.

Whether you’re here to explore the work, read a story, or simply take a breath, I’m glad you found your way here. I hope what you see reminds you of your own creative spark.
